A few months ago, I hung up my keys and started a new job because my income from Grabcar and Uber were rubbish to say the least. I was driving up to 8-12 hours a day just to hit a clean income of RM100 a day after I’ve topped up my petrol, touch n go and some food. I was exhausted, my health was deteriorating and I gained a wide waist from the endless hours of sitting…all in the name of chasing my incentives. Uber and Grabcar took 20-25% of my hard earned income for every trip and by the end of each ride job I felt my efforts weren’t even close to being worth it. I can’t even pay up my car service nor my other monthly commitments. I was struggling to get by every month and even had to borrow money to meet ends meet (thanks Grabcar and Uber for the puny rewards program!)
Most drivers would have felt what I have felt and almost everyone resorted to networking with their passengers, passing on their contact cards and building their own client database.
So, I thought I’m done with ride hailing.
That is…until another player in the market came along called Dacsee and offered what drivers have been looking for – a sustainable income with a client base and rewards close to a multi level marketing system based on a minor 1-2% commission out put; a system that can be passed down to your children, & hopefully continue as long as it can stay innovative. It’s somewhat creative and is based on block chain technology which means it requires payment systems like bitcoin and ethereum. The app isn’t out yet but has recruited more than 5000 drivers up to date, & will focus on the supply side (drivers) of the business first before moving on to the demand side (passengers)
If you’ve been a driver for grabcar and Uber and have been pissed with the way they treated you with their cheap reward system and taking advantage of your hard labour then Dacsee is worth a try.
